The Star

Matthew 2:9,10
We would follow our star,
be as true as we can
to the dream
but we are surprised
by one
that leads manger-ward

And lights a fire
in the most unlikely
of places.

Other stars glitter
and dazzle
and promise awesome heights
of power and glory.

Yours is singular,
whole of itself,
urging the welcoming
of a new wisdom
of Your focussed brightness
lowly,
discreet.

Lighting a path of service
for others
for the shining,
light bathed.
Streaming light
more clear than the Milky Way,
more fiery,
more real
against the deepest dark.
